Ready for a New Role v Restlessness

Summer really does bring that “pause and reassess” energy.

The sunlight, slower pace, and post‑holiday clarity often make people realize they’ve been running on autopilot. But before jumping into a job change, it helps to separate true misalignment from seasonal restlessness.

Here’s a clear way to evaluate it:

🌤️ 1. Check your energy, not just your emotions

Ask: Am I drained because of the job itself, or because I haven’t rested? If a long weekend or short break noticeably improves your mood, you may need recovery, not reinvention.

🧭 2. Revisit your “why”

Write down what originally drew you to your role. If those reasons still matter but feel buried under fatigue or routine, you might just need to reconnect with purpose, not abandon it.

🔍 3. Identify patterns, not moments

One bad month doesn’t equal a bad fit. Look for consistent signs: chronic dread on Sunday nights, loss of motivation even after rest, or values misalignment with leadership.

💬 4. Talk it out

Sometimes clarity comes through conversation. Discuss your thoughts with a mentor, trusted colleague, or coach — someone who can help you see whether it’s burnout or a deeper mismatch.

🧘 5. Experiment before exiting

Try small shifts first: new projects, skill development, or a different schedule. If those don’t reignite engagement, that’s your signal it’s time to explore new opportunities.

🔥 Bottom line

Restlessness is a whisper; misalignment is a pattern. If you feel lighter after rest, stay and recalibrate. If you feel heavier after rest, start planning your next chapter.
